Bishop, Confessor and Doctor
He is one of the four great Doctors of the Latin Church, along with Saint Jerome, Saint Augustine and Saint Gregory. He catechized Saint Augustine and forced the Spanish Catholic Emperor Theodosius to do public penance. The rite called Ambrosiano still subsists in Milan.
