Bishop and Confessor
Born in Hungary, as a soldier he split his cloak with a beggar, and the next night Christ appeared to him, dressed in the half cloak, saying: “Martin, catechumen, has covered me with this dress.”
Received baptism, he founded a monastery, where he retired. From there he left for the episcopal see of Tours, which he consecrated with illustrious pastoral virtues. In his tomb God worked innumerable wonders.
