A native of Antioch, a doctor converted to the faith by Saint Paul, he gave himself to him as a companion on his apostolic trips. He wrote two canonical books: the third Gospel and the Apostolic Acts, of which he was largely an eyewitness. His Gospel is directed primarily to Gentiles. Saint Paul refers to Luke in the second letter to the Corinthians, chapter 8, verses 16 to 24. When he sent another brother to Corinth with Titus to collect alms for the Christians of Palestine.
