The Blessed Virgin is Queen by two titles, analogous to those of the Royalty of Christ: Christ is King by nature, as the Son of God; the Virgin is Queen as Mother of God. Christ acquired the title of King by rescuing men from the tyranny of Satan; Mary, collaborating with Christ in our rescue. She reigns the world with most dignity, she exercises her sovereignty mainly in the administration of grace, as Queen and Mother of mercy.
