Duke and Martyr

Duke of Bohemia, he shone from the throne for his piety and charity towards the poor. A skilled politician and courageous leader, he defended his homeland against foreign invasion. But his mother, who was pagan, and his impious brother Boleslaus, conspired against his life; his own brother murdered him in the temple in 929, he is the heavenly Patron of Bohemia, Hungary and Poland.

V/. St. Wenceslaus.
R/. Pray for us.
