Bishop and Martyr

Born in London, he came by divine choice to occupy the seat of Canterbury, the primate of England; He gloriously defended the independence of the Church against the secular Caesarism of Henry II, until succumbing to the sacrilegious blow of the sword, and giving, as good Shepherd, his life for his sheep in 1170.

V/. St. Thomas of Canterbury.
R/. Pray for us.
