Twice Saint Peter was chained: in Jerusalem, by order of Herod Agrippa, when the Angel took him out of prison and in Rome, by order of Nero, before being crucified. Both chains are venerated in Rome in the Basilica of San Pedro in chains.
“More glorious is the title of prisoner for Christ than the title of Apostle, Evangelist, and Doctor.”
