Pope and Confessor
Pietro Angeleri di Murrone, Italian, lived as a young hermitic life; later, surrounded by disciples, he founded the Congregation that was called of the Celestinian monks, similar to the Cistercian. At the age of seventy-two, after a long vacant see of two and a half years, he was compelled to accept the Supreme Pontificate, adopting the name of Celestino V; but unskillful for the government, and finding no peace in the bustle of business and court intrigue, he gave up his tiara a few months later and returned to his beloved solitude.
