Confessor and Doctor

Natural of Nisibe (Mesopotamia), he joined together in his life the double character of hermit and apostle. Hard with himself, he burned with zeal to convert Gentiles and sinners; He also wrote for the monks and the lay faithful. He was a poet, and he composed precious sacred hymns; for which it was called “the Harp of the Holy Spirit”

He was very devoted to the Blessed Virgin.

V/. St. Ephrem.
R/. Pray for us.
