Pope and Martyr

Many believe that it is the same Clement who collaborated with Saint Paul. His glorious pontificate eclipsed those of Saint Linus and Saint Cleto, his predecessors. He pacified the Church of Corinth by letter.

Relegated to the kerosene in Trajan’s time, he was thrown into the sea with an anchor tied around his neck. His body is venerated in Rome in the church of his name.

V/. St. Clement.
R/. Pray for us.
