Confessor

He was born in Cologne; he studied deeply at the University of Paris, where he graduated as a doctor and teacher, and was a distinguished writer of theological and exegetical works. With his companions he withdrew from the world to a very rough mountain, called the Cartuja, near Grenoble, where he founded the famous Carthusian Order, dedicated to solitude, prayer, divine worship and penance.
