Abbot

He was Egyptian, and at the age of eighteen he retired to the desert, where at first he led a hermit life; but the fame of his sanctity gathered around him innumerable imitators, and with them he instituted the common or cenobitic life. Terrible was his name to demons. He passed away at one hundred and five years of age.

V/. St. Anthony the Great.
R/. Pray for us.
