Apostles
Simon Canaanite (from Cana of Galilee) was called Zealot because of his zeal for the law. Judas Tadeo was the brother of St. James the Less and the son of Cleophas and of Mary, his wife; therefore, nephew of Saint Joseph and first cousin of Jesus Christ. These and other cousins are called in the Gospel, according to the Eastern custom, brothers of Jesus. Thaddeus wrote one of the canonical letters and preached the Gospel in Mesopotamia; Simon, in Egypt, and both met in Persia, where together they were martyred.
V/. Saints Simon and Judas Thaddaeus.
