She was born in Sicily, and after distributing her heritage to the poor, she consecrated her virginity to God, who made her body a temple of the Holy Spirit. The tyrant Pascasio wanted to drag her to an infamous place; but God did not allow them to move her from her place. They lit a bonfire around her, which didn’t hurt her; at last she, beheaded, went on to unite with her heavenly Husband. For Saint Lucia the Dilexísti Mass was composed,… which is now common to many holy Virgins.
