Abbot

A fifteen-year-old boy, he traveled to Egypt and learned from the great Saint Anthony the Abbot the way of holiness. Returning to Palestine, his homeland, he withdrew to the desert, where, to extinguish impure temptations, he terribly punished his body. He fought the demons and defeated them. Pursued by the admiration that his virtues and miracles aroused, he fled to hide, being eighty years old, on the island of Cyprus.

V/. St. Hilarion the Great.
R/. Pray for us.
