The Assumption of Our Lady, August 15

Catholic Feast.

The Mother of God went through the trance of death; but her death, caused by love and desire to be with her Divine Son, was similar to a most sweet dream; shortly after, her soul returned to run with her virginal body, and body and soul was taken to heaven and there was enthroned as Empress of the heavens and the earth.

The Church acclaims her as a new Judith who broke the head of the infernal leader, and the Virgin Mary in turn attributes all her greatness to God.

May we achieve the grace to live with the Virgin Mary in the glory of the blessed.

On November 1, 1950, the Supreme Pontiff Pius XII celebrated this sacred feast for the first time, after solemnly defining the Assumption of the Mother of God body and soul into heaven as a dogma of Catholic faith.

V: Sweet Blessed Virgin Mary.
A: Pray for us.
