Apostle.

He is one of the three favorite disciples of Christ, who with Saint Peter and Saint John attended the glorious transfiguration of Jesus in Tabor, the resurrection of the daughter of the prince of the synagogue and the heartbreaking agony of Gethsemane.

To Saint Peter Christ entrusted his Church; to Saint John, his mother; To Saint James, his Spain, whose Patron he is, along with the Virgin Mary Immaculate.

He was the first of the Apostles to drink the chalice of martyrdom, beheaded by Agrippa in Jerusalem in 44 AD. The relics of his body are venerated in Compostela.

V: Saint James the Greater.
A: Pray for us.
