Bishop, Confessor and Doctor
He suffered terrible persecution from the Arians. His immortal work is called the Catechesis, twenty-four instructions to catechumens on the mysteries of the Catholic faith. Julian the Apostate put his hand in the restoration of the temple in Jerusalem; but Saint Cyril assured that he would not succeed; And so it was, for a terrible earthquake and an eruption of fire that erupted from the ground disrupting the construction.
